What is the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)?
The Electronic Prescription Service is an NHS Service. It gives you the chance to change how your GP sends your prescriptions to the pharmacy.
More information about EPS
You are no longer required to pick up your repeat prescriptions from your doctor. They will send them electronically to the pharmacy of your choice instead, saving you time. You can choose any pharmacy that offers EPS, giving you more options for where to buy your medications.
You must select the pharmacy where your electronic prescription will be filled. It's known as the nomination. Any pharmacy that is running full EPS is eligible for nomination. You don't need to choose a drugstore close to your doctor's office. One pharmacy can only be nominated at a time. To get your nomination added for you, ask your doctor or drugstore. To use EPS, you don't need a computer.
Your condition is stable, and you are okay with not visiting your general practitioner's office frequently to pick up your repeat prescription. Yes, if you prefer to have your medications delivered or if you typically pick them up from the same location.
Please let your doctor know if you want to keep your prescription from being sent electronically. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist who provides EPS if you want to switch pharmacies.
