Plant sterols can stop unwanted cholesterol from the things you eat being absorbed in the small intestine. As a result, plant sterols can keep your cholesterol levels at the normal level, or - even better, help lower your blood cholesterol and thus reduce a risk factor in the development of coronary heart disease.

It's a convenient way to get your recommended daily intake without the added calories or fat found in sterol-enriched margarine or dairy produce.
